Environmentally-Responsible Solutions and Products
Our employees undergo a continuous training program for our contracts. We provide our personnel with the most up-to-date methods of accomplishing their jobs in a more efficient and proficient manner. We offer our personnel the opportunity to attend classes and seminars sponsored by manufacturers of the equipment at our contract sites, and provide our supervisors and lead persons the opportunity to attend classes to enhance their performances. Supervisors and lead persons then provide ongoing training programs for personnel under their supervision. Special training emphasis is placed on hazardous material handling, green technologies/product use, and any existing environmentally unstable condition.
As an example, any fluorescent tubes replaced are with environmentally-friendly ‘green tip’ tubes or LEDs where permitted. Removed tubes considered hazardous waste are stored and removed by a fully compliant EPA/DOT licensed hazardous waste removal company.
PMSC utilizes bio-based products whenever available. Bio-based products are our products of choice. Should these products not be available, government-approved ‘green seal’ certified products are utilized. Since many products are yet to be developed using bio-based technologies, our company utilizes green seal certified products. As products are developed and become available, however, we present the new product to the Government for approved usage.
Green Business Bureau
PMSC is a member of the Green Business Bureau (GBB), a third-party organization dedicated to helping members demonstrate their business commitment to sustainability. We hold quarterly Green meetings and distribute The Green Gazette to educate and share latest Green ideas for company and client operations’ conservation.
PMSC uses tools like Portfolio Manager from Energy Star to benchmark and track building energy usage. We follow any changes to LEED (Leadership in Education and Environmental Design) rating system, as directed by USGBC (United States Green Building Council), executive orders and mandates. PMSC empowers employees to pursue industry recognized energy and sustainability accreditations such as LEED certifications through GBCI (Green Building Certification Institute) and Certified Energy Managers accredited through AEE (Association of Energy Engineers). Our trained accredited professionals are positioned to support you utilizing a dynamic and flexible business structure.

Portfolio Manager (Energy Star)
Energy Star, sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), uses Portfolio Manager as a valuable tool for rating your building. Portfolio Manager is going through some major changes—making it easier than ever to use and receive an Energy Star rating for facilities. Achieving this rating is a key first step in greening your facility and discovering areas of success and areas of weakness.
A Plaque of Recognition is received with a 75 and above rating. A rating under 75 identifies onsite staff issues you can focus on to achieve Energy Star.
Energy Star is a fantastic first step to an eventual LEED certification, and is strongly recommended as a starting point.
U.S. Green Building Counsel
PMSC joined the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in November, 2012. According to the USCBC website, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, “USGBC is committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings.”
Further, “USGBC works toward its mission of market transformation through its LEED green building program, robust educational offerings, a nationwide network of chapters and affiliates, the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, and advocacy in support of public policy that encourages and enables green buildings and communities.”
Through committee work, membership enables PMSC to have a voice in the LEED Rating system. Further, networking with other members and member companies allows us to strengthen the green movement—one we are passionate about. Membership also provides savings on LEED exams and certifications, along with easy, affordable access to publications and courses.
